THE SEIZING OF SOULS MINISTRIES

WHO WE ARE

Many years ago, a passion was birthed in Terry and Ann Griggs to reach out and provide comfort to God’s hurting and neglected children, his adult children.  The initial form taken on by these “children of God” were of residents in the nursing home community.  Many of these residents were there because they had nowhere else to go.   Terry and Ann tirelessly visited these facilities and formed with the residents relationships that they were lacking.  It’s hard to say who looked more expectantly to the visits – Terry and Ann or the residents.

As their passion grew, so did the scope of their efforts. From the nursing home community to the homeless, Terry and Ann joined the homeless ministry at their church: a group dedicated to making a difference. They participated in providing food, toiletries and clothing to the homeless community. In addition to visiting homeless shelters, they traveled to the individual camp sites, ravines, and side streets of the Dallas metroplex. They brought hope and encouragement to those who had fallen prey to life’s challenges.

As leaders of the hospital ministry at their church, Terry and Ann were responsible for coordinating the hospital teams for visits, as well as participating in the visits.

Terry and Ann are mighty prayer warriors.   They were intercessory prayer leaders at their church until life took an unexpected turn. In early 2011, Terry underwent a liver transplant.  Up until that time, Terry had no major health issues.  The obvious question of “Why me, God?” would enter their minds.  But God had a plan! God always has a plan.  During the weekly transplant support group meetings, they were given the opportunity to discuss their feelings, thoughts, and fears.  This safe environment was much needed and helped them overcome their fears and anxiety. They learned through this process that the real difference was the fact that they had someone to listen to them. That’s what was needed: a listening ear.

Terry and Ann realized their passion proved to be “that listening ear”.  They are still reaching out and providing comfort, as their passion and vision have expanded.  Through SOS Ministries, they are offering a listening ear, word of encouragement, and a shoulder to cry on to adults who are facing life’s challenges.
